Social Services Management
Responsible for the leadership, direction, training, and operational management of areas specializing in social services. Provides strategic expertise and guidance on a broad cross-section of functions. This role accomplishes goals through oversight of areas of responsibility, planning, managing resources, prioritizing, and directing the responsibilities of employees.

- Knowledge of a specialized social services area.
- Knowledge of program evaluation methodologies.

Level Descriptions
Social Services Management 1
- Manages staff and resources of a specialized project or program.
- Assesses training needs of staff, develops training manuals and materials, and delivers specialized training.
- Monitors compliance with policies and procedures.
- Produces reports and reviews and corrects reports of other staff.
- Fields questions from sponsoring agencies regarding the work staff performs.
- Develops and implements strategies to meet project or program needs.
- Provides expert testimony in the area of expertise in legal proceedings.
Education/Experience
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and five years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience.
Certification/License
Applicable certification/license may be required.

- Provides management and guidance to managers and staff.
- Manages multiple projects.
- Directs and oversees multiple budgets associated with contracts.
- Sets the strategic direction for projects.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
- Identifies funding opportunities, develops proposals, and negotiates contracts.
- Resolves complex issues.
- Creates and executes communication plans.
- Develops reports for submission to external and internal stakeholders.
Education/Experience
Typically requires an advanced degree in a relevant field and five years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience.
Certification/License
Applicable certification/license may be required.
