Responsible for routine to moderately complex application of policies and procedures. This role provides human resources technical support for daily operations by providing a variety of human resources activities that may include but not limited to, recruiting, employee relations, job evaluations, compensation management, employee records, benefits administration, and teaching and learning. Competencies for this role are usually gained through specialized or on-the-job training.

Level Descriptions

Human Resources Associate 1

  • Provides basic technical, routine support for an assigned human resources functional area.
  • Work is closely supervised and reviewed for accuracy.
  • Responds to routine questions on human resources policies and procedures within functional area(s).
  • Processes various human resources materials including confidential forms and records.
  • Receives, reviews, and ensures compliance and completeness of human resources data, documents, and records.

 

Education/Experience

Typically requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Human Resources Associate 2

  • Provides specialized support and performs assigned tasks by following established policies and procedures.
  • Resolves routine problems that require a human resources knowledge base.
  • Sets priorities and organizes work within general guidelines established by the supervisor/manager.
  • Tracks and compiles data, and researches and prepares reports as needed.
  • Delivers routine training in functional area.
  • Maintains operational or procedural manuals.

 

Education/Experience

Typically requires a high school diploma and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Market Range: MR05, MR07

Human Resources Associate 3

  • Works across campus or University in the capacity of an expert resource for a functional area and/or supervises others.
  • Operates under general supervision.
  • Works within established guidelines.
  • Decisions include how to carry out work in varying circumstances by interpreting individual situations and determining which guidelines are most effective out of those available.
  • Decisions contribute to the overall strategy that impacts functional area.
  • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations (i.e. federal and state laws and regulations).
  • Analyzes data and prepares surveys and reports.
  • Creates, delivers, and assesses training presentations.
  • Researches problems that are more difficult and responds to inquiries requiring more complex knowledge.
  • Processes applications following state and federal regulations.

Typically requires a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
