Responsible for providing leadership, direction, training, revenue generation, and management for athletics operations. This role is distinguished from other management roles by its primary focus on management for an athletics department. Provides strategic expertise and guidance on a broad cross-section of athletic functions. This role accomplishes goals through overseeing their areas of responsibility, planning, managing resources, prioritizing, and directing the responsibilities of employees.

  • Manages operations, budget, and personnel of an athletic area.
  • Supervises the work of other managers, professionals, and support staff.
  • Works with leadership to develop new programs and services for student-athletes.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures.
  • Sets strategic direction for area of responsibility.
  • Translates strategic plans into operational plans.
  • Ensures programs and activities comply with university and external policies and regulations.

  • Serves in an advisory role to committees.
  • Contributes to the development of the strategic direction and long-range plans.

  • Manages senior-level managers and oversees multiple large-scale units within an athletics department.
