About

The CAP is a certification owned and administered by the International Association of Administrative Professionals: https://www.iaap-hq.org/

Exam Preparation Resources

You can learn more about the exam and preparation resources on the IAAP website. In order to take the exam, interested employees must register and pay for the exam directly through IAAP. The university does not handle registration or payment for the exam. You can find certification info on the IAAP site.

Study Books

EOD has study guides available to employees for check-out of up to two weeks at a time. Once you have registered for the exam, contact EOD if you would like to check out a study guide. If one is available when you request it, it will be loaned to you for two weeks. The books cannot be mailed.  They must be picked up in person from our Knoxville office.  After the two-week period, the check-out can be extended if there is not a waiting list. To find out about availability of study guides, email uteod@tennessee.edu.

Exam Fee

The UT Career Development Fund may reimburse up to $150 of the CAP exam fee. The fund is available to non-exempt UT employees only. Applications for the fund must be submitted at least three weeks in advance of the exam date.  Reimbursements can only be made to individuals, as UT departments are not permitted to pay for employee certification exams such as the CAP.  You are only reimbursed one time during your employment at UT for the CAP, CPA, or other similar exams.
