Job Summary

Supervises and participates in the general maintenance and repair of automotive facilities, plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration facilities and equipment, and painting of buildings and equipment.

Job Functions

  • Plans and schedules work for the group, ensuring proper distribution of assignments, adequate staffing, space and facilities for performance of duties; trains and instructs employees.
  • Estimates amount of materials and supplies required for major repair projects; ensures availability of supplies.
  • Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and instructions.
  • May perform maintenance mechanic functions applying OSHA requirements; spot checks vehicles for readiness for dispatch; and determines sequences of paint operations as well as mixing, blending, and matching of paints and stains.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to designated personnel.
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, and lubricates machinery and equipment.
  • Operates machines and equipment in assisting appropriate personnel.
  • Interprets blueprints and schematics.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school degree and five years experience in field or completion of trade school or apprenticeship plus two years experience. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
