Supervisory Foundations is a certificate program designed to support the professional development of supervisors at UT. Whether you’re new to the role or a seasoned leader, this program is designed to enhance your supervisory skills and leadership effectiveness. Delivered over seven engaging Zoom sessions, the program provides an immersive learning experience with a cohort-based format that encourages collaboration and peer networking. Focused on practical, role-specific training, each session is aligned with clear learning Objectives and competencies, equipping participants with the essential tools, knowledge, and skills needed to lead with confidence and drive team success.

Intended Audience:

This program is open to supervisors where the primary duty of the job is to supervise the work of two or more UT employees (not students) on a regular basis. While the program is designed for new supervisors (those in a supervisory role for one to three years), the program also serves as a refresher for seasoned supervisors and managers.

Program Structure:

  • Session 1 – Welcome and Leadership Identity
  • Session 2 – Building Resilient Behaviors
  • Session 3 – Building Cohesive Teams
  • Session 4 – Building Trust and Accountability
  • Session 5 – Leading Growth and Development
  • Session 6 – Leading Engagement and Recognition
  • Session 7 – Leading Inclusivity

Methodology:

The program consists of seven sessions, delivered over the course of a semester via Zoom. The interactive nature of the program will encourage participants to engage with the material, share experiences, and learn from each other. A combination of required readings, independent assignments, discussions, virtual facilitated group sessions, and online presentations will be employed to facilitate learning. Participation in all learning activities is a requirement for successful completion and awarding of the “Supervisory Foundations” certificate.
