Leading From the Middle is a comprehensive leadership program designed specifically for middle managers who are responsible for supervising employees and/or programs while also collaborating with executive leadership. This program will empower middle managers to lead effectively in all directions by enhancing their skills in self-leadership, team management, collaborating, and political savvy.

All sessions are held on Zoom at 10:00am – 11:30am.

  • February 6th: Session 1
  • February 20th: Session 2
  • March 5th: Session 3
  • March 19th: Session 4
  • April 2nd: Session 5
  • April 16th: Session 6
  • April 30th: Session 7

Intended Audience:

This program is designed for middle managers who hold formal leadership roles within the UT System statewide and are responsible for supervising employees and/or programs while also working with executive leadership.

Prerequisites:

Prerequisites are not currently required for Leading from the Middle; However, we strongly recommend completing the Leading From Where You Are and Supervisory Foundations certificate programs before beginning Leading from the Middle.

Methodology:

The program consists of seven sessions, delivered over the course of a semester via Zoom. The interactive nature of the program will encourage participants to engage with the material, share experiences, and learn from each other. A combination of required readings, independent assignments, discussions, virtual facilitated group sessions, and online presentations will be employed to facilitate learning. Participation in all learning activities is a requirement for successful completion and awarding of the “Leading from the Middle” certificate.
