“Thanks to better than expected returns on investments last year, we are able to create a one-time opportunity for faculty and staff to apply for grants in our three key areas,” said Boyd. “The goal of the grants is to fund innovative ideas that break down silos and create collaborative opportunities to advance the university.”

The UT System has set aside $1.5 million — $500,000 for each of the three categories — for one-time grants. Proposals will be judged on collaboration across units, campuses and institutes as well as long-term sustainability.

RFPs will go out Nov. 1 with proposals due by Feb. 3, 2020. Grants will be awarded in Spring 2020. For more information, visit president.tennessee.edu/OneUTgrants.

Update: This article originally stated proposals were due Jan. 15. The deadline was extended to Feb. 3, 2020.
