Young woman cares for elderly woman in wheelchairEffective July 1, 2019, all Knoxville-area employees, including those with the UT Institute of Agriculture, UT Institute for Public Service, UT Knoxville and UT System, must provide medical certification for family and medical leave requests regarding a serious health condition of the employee or a covered family member to ensure consistency among all UT employees across the state.

Employees will not need medical certification for family and medical leave requests regarding childbirth, adoption or foster care placement.
