For Ronald McFadden, It’s About Teaching Life Skills
For Ronald McFadden, his work as Director of UT Knoxville’s Educational Advancement Program (EAP) is about more than numbers – it’s about teaching life skills.
Students enter the program in need of academic assistance, but under McFadden’s direction, receive both the knowledge and skills they need to reach graduation.
During the past 15 years, McFadden has overseen an 85 percent graduation rate, and while the numbers are evidence of the program’s success, seeing students grasp the core principles of the program is what brings the most satisfaction.
“It takes time, but eventually students learn to manage their time, to love learning, to pursue knowledge and to make a difference in their community,” he said.
