Bill Talley

Employee benefits are what brought Bill Talley to the University of Tennessee. Talley currently works as an analyst in the Office of Information Technology in Knoxville.

Talley applied for his first job at UT in 1980 after hearing about fee waivers. Soon after getting a job as janitor, he enrolled in undergraduate school.

In addition to receiving a bachelor’s degree, Talley didn’t have any debt when he graduated, and his academic career did not stop there. He continued on to graduate school also on UT’s dime. This fall Talley will receive his Master’s in public administration.

A strong believer in education, Talley said he is “very grateful” the University has given him the opportunity to receive one.

“I am fortunate because fee waivers are not extended at many other jobs,” Talley said, “this benefit has certainly helped me with my career and has enabled me to do something I wouldn’t have been able to do.”
