Level Descriptions

Government Relations Professional

  • Provides support in one or more areas of government relations and advocacy.
  • Serves as a liaison between the University and legislative committees, State departments, and agencies.
  • Monitors political climate and activity on key UT priorities and helps coordinate University’s response before various House and Senate Committees.
  • Analyzes trends in higher education policy at both state and federal levels and recommends areas of opportunity and/or challenge.
  • Develops special reports for internal and external constituencies.
  • Provides support in policy research and legislative proposal analysis.

 

Education/Experience

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of experience in federal, state, or local government, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
