Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and management for agricultural and natural resources functions and centers. Responsible for the overall success of research, education, and outreach programs within the assigned area. Provides strategic expertise and guidance and has increased accountability. Management level roles have the management and development of people as a major accountability and have direct reports. This role accomplishes goals through overseeing their areas of responsibility, planning, managing resources, prioritizing, and directing the responsibilities of employees.

Level Descriptions

Agricultural and Natural Resources Management 1

  • Provides operational management to an educational/agricultural center.
  • Manages personnel, including supervision, training of staff, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Manages center budgets, expenses, and capital improvements.
  • Manages facilities associated with agricultural research including maintenance and supply orders.
  • Implements educational programs.
  • Performs routine maintenance as needed to ensure compliance with safety policies.

 

Education/Experience

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Certification/License

Applicable certification may be preferred.

Agricultural and Natural Resources Management 2

  • Provides administrative, programmatic, and operational leadership to programs and centers.
  • Manages agricultural operations, facilities, and lands.
  • Sets the strategic direction of the unit/center.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes resources.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and safety regulations.
  • Responsible for external partnerships, building community relationships, and acting as a liaison with local, state, and federal stakeholders.
  • Assists with long-term planning, development, and implementation of research programs.
  • Coordinates and directs personnel.
  • Oversees and directs large-scale programs.
  • Participates in strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Oversees and leads marketing, communications, and promotions of programs and centers.
